Join award-winning, multi-genre photographer and educator, Paul Zizka, and guest landscape photographer, Kahli April, for an impactful session designed to help you grow in your photography, learn from fellow creatives and take your images to the next level.
These online sessions are designed to be a positive and enlightening experience, bringing together the expertise of seasoned pros with the community of those who share your passion for the craft.

A constructive critique session is one of the most powerful tools for growth in photography. Spark Sessions offers you the rare chance to step outside your own perspective and see your work through the eyes of seasoned professionals, Paul Zizka and Kahli April, and peers who care about your creative development.
In this small group setting, you’ll receive focused, thoughtful feedback on what’s working in your images—and, just as importantly, what’s holding them back. This isn’t about tearing your work down; it’s about sharpening your vision, refining your technique, and discovering new creative possibilities. You’ll leave each session with actionable insights, fresh inspiration, and a deeper understanding of your artistic vision.

Here’s what will happen at Spark Sessions:
All registrants will be sent a private Zoom webinar link. Participants and hosts will be added as panellists.
You submit 4-5 of your images in advance to give Paul and Kahli a chance to review and prepare. We will ultimately select two that we feel will most benefit from a critique, simultaneously choosing a diverse set across the group to optimize the value of the feedback.
We’ll send participants a form in which they can provide details about their goals for Sparks Sessions and some background on their photography.
Attendance isn’t mandatory but is highly recommended. The session will be recorded, but you will get much more out of the session if you are there to ask and answer questions, provide some context for your images, and offer your insights to fellow group members.
Spark Sessions will last approximately 3 hours, but please plan on lingering in case we need to go over time. There will be observers present who only have access to view the session, not participate.
Each image will first be reviewed by Paul and guest reviewer, Kahli. They may ask questions about the images before offering their praise and critique, focusing on several aspects of the images, including but not limited to composition, technique, story and the intangible elements. They may also open the image in an editing suite to provide further feedback.
Once Paul and Kahli have reviewed, an invitation will be granted to other session members to provide their thoughts, with a focus on kind, clear, and constructive feedback.
You will receive a recording of the session for you to refer back to later!

Paul Zizka
Paul Zizka is a Banff-based professional mountain landscape and adventure photographer and a sought-after photo educator. Whether it’s wading waist-deep into a glacier-fed lake or chasing auroras from dusk til dawn, Paul is known for an adventurous spirit that draws him to the extraordinary. In addition to eight published books, Paul’s award-winning photos have also been featured in a variety of publications, including Maclean’s, National Geographic Adventure, Huffington Post, and Canadian Geographic. Kahli April
Kahli is a landscape and night sky photographer based in the Canadian Rockies. Her work is a reflection of her passions; travel, mountains and inspiring landscapes. Often found hiking or chasing the aurora in the middle of the night, Kahli enjoys the challenge of finding unique scenes and interesting light. Sharing these breathtaking landscapes with others while exploring the world is what motivates Kahli, hoping to inspire people to experience for themselves. She has found a deeper purpose within photography by sharing what she has learned from her experiences.

Spark Sessions requires a minimum of 4 Participants to run.
All registrants will be sent a recording.
Cancellation:
*Payments are non-refundable. Participants, your spot is non-refundable, unless we can sell it to someone on the waitlist (not guaranteed, but we’ll try). If we can sell your spot, a $50 administration fee will be retained. If Paul Zizka Photography cancels the Spark Sessions, a full refund will be issued.
